I’ve had my fair share of hair loss, frizzy hair, and extremely bad hair days. My grandmother (rip) was able to leave me with many tokens of wisdom, one being about hair care. She sat me down every week to apply a concoction of hair oils to help me manage my hair from the age of 10-19. It’s been a part of me since.
Why is hair oil necessary?
Hair oil is extremely helpful for hair growth and maintenance and when I was a young girl, it was disgusting or not normal to oil hair in America. But my grandmother would say, “when you’re older and everyone wants your hair, it’s because of the hair oils, and they’ll beg for your secrets”.
Of course genetics plays a huge role, but I have seen all types of hair at different lengths and styles, and oiling has played a huge part in their hair care journey.
My Favorite Hair Oil, Woman Owned and a Small Business
Erim Kaur has a similar and more compelling journey, with the loss of her mother and becoming a sister to all women, she has created a beautiful product that is deeply rooted in her story.
ByErim is a Luxury hair oil containing 8 pure oils (amla, argan, castor, almond, and essential oils lavender, rosemary, and bergamot.
This amazing mix of hair oils has helped many of her customers keep their hair healthy and some have seen effects of longer & thicker hair.
I have had a positive experience using the ByErim hair oil.
Pros of ByErim Hair oil
- Smells Amazing
- Easy to apply
- Non greasy
- Able to wash out & still see its impact
- Can be used to lightly style hair
How do I use it?
I use 2 pumps of the hair oil to apply onto my scalp and massage lightly. Afterwards, I apply 2 more pumps into my hair and pay special attention to my mid-end section.
I keep this oil in my hair for 30 minutes to an hour, and I’ll either workout or apply a hair cap on. Ive noticed amazing results when the scalp is warm. Personally speaking, warm oil and a good sweat will never fail your hair.
*This oil does not need to be heated, rubbing your hands together to warm the oil is good enough.

Things to not do with hair oil
- Don’t drown your hair in oil, it’ll backfire and cause more hair loss
- Do not scratch at the scalp
- Do not apply hot oils to the scalp, warm is best.
However, if you’d like to use hair oils on their own, here are my favorites!
- Argan Oil
- Amla Oil
- Almond Oil
- Black seed Oil
- Fenugreek Oil
- Avocado Oil
- Olive Oil
All these oils have amazing properties and can be mixed and matched for their unique properties. It all depends on your hair type and hair goals. I’ll make sure to make a new blog post explaining what these oils can do and my secret DIY hair care recipes!
